Tropical Fruit Salads – A Delicious and Colorful Addition For Your Home Entertaining - Ajit Patel Wemet

It is amazing what the color of fresh fruits can do to add that extra dash of design to your home decor. People have often purchased permanent (or plastic) fruit bowls for show. Nonetheless, sometimes you can have the best of both worlds: beautiful, colorful fruits prepared in simple recipes that your friends and family members or other guests will just love! To have some general ideas of different kinds of fruit salads that you can whip up is great. For a bright, lovely and absolutely nutritious snacks and / or desert, fruit salad is often popular and quick to disappear. One of these popular fruit salads is the tropical California-style fruit salad.

If you like the tempting tastes of tropical fruit, it takes just a few easy steps to whip up this special recipe for a tasty tropical California fruit salad. You will first need several the following ingredients. You will need approximately six to eight sliced fresh apricots, pitted and prepared in the amount of approximately two cups for a five-serving salad. One or two cups of fresh strawberries and a few limes or kiwi fruit are key ingredients for a great California tropical fruit salad! The strawberries you use should be sliced in half for a beautiful and colorful presentation. In addition, pare two or three pieces of kiwifruit and slice thick slices for about two cups in total. Apricot nectar is a wonderful tool for California-style recipes, especially fruit salads like this one.

You will combine the apricots, kiwi and strawberries and then glaze with about two thirds of a cup of your apricot nectar. Remember – you do not have to follow any recipe to the letter. That is perhaps one of the very best parts of cooking! Especially if you are making something like a delicious fruit salad, you can make all kinds of your own improvisations. You can do things such as change the portions, amount of servings, and in any fruit salad recipes, you can virtually always substitute one kind of fruit for another kind.
Joining the fresh fruit fad could just be an absolutely sincere gesture of pursuing a healthier way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Or it could be a healthy and delicious, but perhaps most importantly, impressively decorative presentation of snacks for the kitchen, living room, outdoor party, or any other occasion. Fruit salads are a colorful and delicious snack – there are a thousand recipes, all beautiful as well as great to eat. Like designer pastries but a lot more healthy, fruit salads can accentuate the dining spread with a bloom of color.

If you love kiwi, you will almost certainly love this salad: It is as easy as can be. Just purchase six fresh kiwi fruit, a peeled papaya, quartered and seeded, cut up twelve little watermelon triangles, perhaps one-forth of an inch thick. Use fresh mint as garnish, lime juice, (one-forth of a cup or so) two tablespoons of honey (a key ingredient in great fruit salads) and some chopped mint. Peel the kiwi fruit, cut and measure the slices about one quarter of an inch thick, in the same manner as the kiwi and the watermelon, slice the papaya into quarter -inch slices. Whip up the dressing ingredients well then drizzle the salad (or even mist or baste it) with the lime dressing and garnish with mint, perhaps you can even use toasted coconut flakes, nuts or grains.

Here’s one that will be sure to be a rollercoaster of tastes, sure to keep any get together from getting too bland. Combining the color and taste of tangerine in your fruit salad with the tart zing of easy-to-make cranberry dressing. Many people like to add kiwi to this recipe and other tropical recipes of many kinds. Otherwise, you will want lettuce leaves to bed the servings. On top of the lettuce you will combine slices of strawberry and tangerine. The cranberry dressing is made of half cranberry sauce and half berry-flavored yogurt, usually a cup total mixture is plenty for a five person recipe. Mix the fruit and the sauce and serve this salad with the lettuce leaves as garnish. Mint is another tasty, exotic and simple garnish that you can use.

It does not matter, really, why we care so much. Buy many people warm at the idea of serving a lovely desert parfait that matches the crimson tones of her dining room set and new window frames. And health-wise, as far as fruit is concerned, often the brighter the better. You will find great nutrients in fruits, and when you start to cook more and more with fresh fruit recipes, you may even find a replacement for more unhealthy eating habits.

Custom design variations of all of your favorite fruit recipes! Serve honeydew melon balls with mint garnish and marshmallow topping in your living room with the new pale green curtains. Serve thick slices of bright papaya and mango with fresh bottled water on the side in the middle of your gleaming, modern black and white kitchen. Or maybe just bring a great recipe to your next outdoor garden party. Surprise your friends with elegant and delicious fruit salad parfaits. Use the very best colors and flavors, and of course, the very best recipes.

Tips For Entertaining Guests On A Diet - Ajit Patel Wemet

When your entertaining guests, sometimes it becomes a bit difficult, since so many people are on diets today. It always seems like someone is on one diet or another, which can make it tough to figure out a menu that will please all of your guests. After all, you cannot just serve celery and carrot sticks when entertaining. To help you make all the dieters on your guest list feel comfortable at your event, here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind.

Planning Out Your Menu

When you are planning out your menu, take some time to gather up some information. Start by checking out what types of diets guests may be on and find out what they are allowed to eat and what things they are not allowed to eat. Once you have plenty of information you can go on figuring out your menu. You can even visit websites that have recipes that work with specific types of diets as well.
Once you are armed with information, it is fine to use your imagination to come up with your own recipes for the event as well. If you think you can modify the recipes to suit the needs of your guests, and then go for it. Since you are probably pretty good friends with those on diets, consider asking them about your menu and if the items you are considering are okay for them to eat.

Finding Dessert Options

When it comes to dessert, you may not have any idea what to do. After all, you will not want to totally skip a dessert when you are entertaining. However, you do not want to end up sabotaging anyone’s diet by offering a heavy dessert either. One great option that works well with most of the different diet plans out there is fresh fruit.
Another idea to consider is having your guest on the diet take care of the dessert. This way they can choose something that they will be able to eat as well. Whether you are able to serve up foods that are perfect or not, it is still going to be appreciated that you are taking the time to accommodate their needs as you are entertaining them.

The great news is that it is possible to plan out a great dinner for guests, even while trying to accommodate guests that may be on a diet. Taking the time to understand various diets, such as the South Beach Diet, Atkins Diet, Weight Watchers, or even Jenny Craig, can make a huge difference. Although you may not be able to plan every dish around the diets of your guests, you probably will be able to make sure that there are at least a couple dishes that they will not have a problem with. Just keep these tips in mind to plan a great dinner together that shows you made every effort to please the guests and help them stick to their diets even when they are being entertained.

When you are planning menus while keeping the diets of guests in mind, consider going with a healthy baked chicken rice recipe. You can find healthy chicken salad recipes as well, which are a healthy option for those on diets.

How to Host a Healthy Dinner Party Guests Will Love - Ajit Patel Wemet

As people become more and more aware of wellness issues, you find that your family and friends start to bring their health and wellbeing concerns into your daily life. According to Kristin Kirkpatrick, RD, YouBeauty’s Nutrition Expert and a member of our Scientific Advisory Board, ‘In the past, when I invited new people to my home for dinner, I typically got the following reaction: “Sounds like fun—but is all the food going to be healthy?” Lately, however, I’ve noticed that people appear to be more concerned about their health and what foods they choose to put into their mouths. So much so that people are actually excited and intrigued to find out what healthy foods I will serve.’ So then, how can you provide healthy food at your next dinner party and still have your guests come back again?
1. Make it fun: At the end of the day, you’ve invited people round to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company, so instead of worrying whether or not people will like the healthy dishes, why not celebrate the good food, and even incorporate it into the fun of the evening. Kirkpatrick details, ‘I’ve put recipes and full nutritional information under every guest’s plate at dinner parties printed on beautiful stationary and people love it.’
2. Downsize your plates: Big plates mean big portions, which can be overkill at a dinner party in which you serve more than one course. ‘I serve appetizers on very small plates and main dishes on larger salad plates,’ Kirkpatrick says. ‘It’s not about policing how much food your guests take; it’s more about increasing awareness of portion size.’
3. Have healthy appetisers: Your average appetiser is often unhealthy as well as so filling that you don’t enjoy your main meal. Instead of putting out a big bowl of crisps and creamy dips, or cheese and crackers, why not try healthy bean, hummus or non-fat yoghurt dips served with vegetables, roasted nuts and grapes or apple slices?
4. Forgo family-style: While buffets make it easier for everyone involved – and there’s a nice community feel too – family-style dining makes it all-too easy for food to be eaten at once, with no regard to portion sizes and calories. It’s far better to pace your courses throughout the evening, both in terms of healthy eating and having a relaxed, enjoyable meal. ‘Allow adequate time for your guests to enjoy all of the food offerings,’ Kirkpatrick advises. ‘Start with appetizers and wine for at least one hour. Once your guests are seated, serve subsequent courses, allowing at least 25 minutes between each course. Taking the approach to stagger food will give you time to breathe as the host/hostess, but it also will give you time to digest so you know when you are full, not stuffed.’
5. Don’t take the “health” out of salads: A healthy salad is so easily ruined with pre-made bottled dressings that are loaded with sugar and saturated fat. Instead, try making your own with fresh ingredients, or else serve soup for an easy way to pack extra veggies into your dishes. Kirkpatrick notes, ‘I always notice that people are very impressed with a soup alternative since it isn’t something you see often at a dinner party.
6. Stock up on seasonings: You can often make the mistake of associating the word “healthy” with “bland.” However, food can taste good AND be good for you too. For a major flavour punch, crack out the citrus zest, toasted spices and the classic garlic and onions.

Workout Wear: How to Perform Well, Look Good and Save Money - Ajit Patel Wemet

The right workout clothes may not be the be-all and end-all to your wellbeing, but they certainly help. According to fitness instructor and certified personal trainer Nicole Nichols, ‘Clothes designed for exercise are made for bodies in motion; they’re designed to fit right and stay put when you’re on the go so that you stay comfortable. Both high-tech synthetic fabrics, and natural ones such as wool, can help pull sweat away from your body so you stay dry. That means you’ll be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter—and that’s more than a comfort issue. Regulating body temperature also keeps you safe.’ However, as “proper” workout clothes can put a real dent in your financial wellness, we’ve got the best tips on how to save money on workout clothes.
1. Try the End-Of-Season Sales: Nichols notes, ‘Just as sweaters are cheapest as spring rolls around, summer and winter, workout clothing goes on major clearance as the weather changes. The same is true for online retailers. This is when I normally hit the sporting goods stores to look for the best deals…This might seem obvious, but don’t get sucked into the fresh displays at the front of the store. Make a beeline for the sale racks FIRST and see what you can find.’
2. Compare Prices Online: ‘In my experience, I tend to find the best deals on workout clothing in stores (usually during clearance time), but you can often find phenomenal deals online,’ says Nichols. ‘Shoes are a great thing to price compare online. Try on in the store and find out what brand and model you like, then search for a deal online. eBay can be a great source for clothing and shoes, too. But beware of high shipping costs from online retailers; these can easily eat up the small savings you earn by shopping online.’
3. Buy Items that Multitask: Nichols points out, ‘A tank with a built-in sports bra may cost more than a simple top, but may save you money since you don’t have to buy the two items separately. Same with a rain jacket that zips off into a vest or hiking pants that convert to shorts. In addition, any workout staple that you can fit into your regular wardrobe gives you more bang for your buck. I tend to stock up on “hybrid” workout tops that double as everyday wear; ACG by Nike, many yoga and Pilates separates, and tops like SparkPeople’s bamboo tanks are some of my favourites.’
4. Join Email Lists: Nichols admits, ‘Yes, getting too many emails can be annoying, but when you sign up for email lists from your favourite workout-clothing manufacturers, you will often receive special coupons, discounts and sale alerts. To me, the extra emails are worth the savings!
5. Get a Loyalty Card: ‘I often shop at Dick’s and belong to their free rewards programme,’ Nichols details. ‘By swiping my card with each purchase, I earn points that accumulate and turn into rewards gift cards that I can spend in the store. I also receive special coupons in the mail.’
6. Only Buy What You Need: Nichols warns, ‘It’s easy to get carried away with buying clothes in cool colours that make you look great, but you’ll save a lot of dough by only buying what you need. I have just two pairs of tights and I just one pair of fleece workout pants and one fleece jacket for winter, and it’s enough for me to run three to four times per week all winter long. Look at your workout schedule, the weather (if you exercise outdoors) and buy just the number of staples you need. If you do laundry throughout the week, you may find that you need even fewer items than you originally thought.’

Top Tips To Avoid Common Fitness Injuries - Ajit Patel Wemet

The current emphasis on high impact training to achieve fast results in an extremely short time frame is causing an increased number of sprains, strains, ruptured tendons and muscle damage. According to orthopaedic surgeon and sports injury specialist, Mr Gorav Datta, ‘We are seeing unprecedented levels of fitness fanatics for hip and knee problems in our clinics. Highintensity, cult fitness trends such as sumo squats, CrossFit and Soulcycle have a lot to answer for, but preventative measures can easily be taken to avoid serious health risks.’
As fitness junkies increasingly seek quickwin solutions, Mr Gorav Datta has reviewed the gym trends to offer expert guidance on how to work out safely with maximum impact.
BARRECORE
What is it? A one-hour series of movements designed to stretch every muscle group in the body. Using a ballet barre, body weight and isometric exercises, muscles quickly transform to become longer, stronger, leaner and more flexible. Mr Gorav Datta advises: Barrecore is an excellent all round work-out with very few long-term adverse effects. Ensuring all muscles are appropriately warmed up is of key importance, as during the one hour session you will really engage all key muscle groups.
CROSSFIT
What is it? Constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity across broad modal and time domains. A typical CrossFit circuit includes 50 reps of 10 different exercises, done as quickly as possible. Mr Gorav Datta advises: Circuit training is generally an excellent cardiovascular and strength workout. My main concern with CrossFit is the loss of technique with fatigue which, ultimately, does lead to injuries. I have experienced in particular an alarming number of back injuries from cross fit.
HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING [HIIT]
What is it? High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of exercise which alternates between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout. Mr Gorav Datta advises: This is an excellent cardiovascular workout, and an efficient way to work out by shortening work-out lengths and potentially reducing repetitive strain on muscles and joints, for which you will reap the benefits longer-term.
SOULCYCLE
What is it? Indoor cycling, also known as Spinning, is a cardiovascular workout of the highest intensity, with classes ranging from 30 to 75 minutes in duration. Mr Gorav Datta advises: Whilst a great cardio workout, spinning raises caution for back injuries and ITB (iliotibial band syndrome), alongside hip impingement, which is common in cyclists.
COMBINATION BURPEES
What is it? A core exercise involved in high intensity workouts, combination burpees are a high-impact form of the original burpee, or squat thrust, and include combinations of jumps and push-ups for increased core engagement. Mr Gorav Datta advises: Burpees are an excellent cardio workout and great for both the core and lower limb. They are physically very demanding so there is real danger here that the technique goes once you get tired, which can lead to harmful back strains.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS WORKOUTS [MAA]
What is it? Based on the techniques of wrestling and boxing but also those of martial arts such as kickboxing, judo and karate; MMA workouts involve intense explosive-power and core-strength exercises which aren’t normally used in traditional martial arts schools. Mr Gorav Datta advises: MMA is a strong, safe way to work out, under the eye of a responsible trainer who can spot and correct technique errors. There is a lot of kicking involved in this work out, so ensure good stretching before to minimise the risk of muscle strains. Over-stretching of the hip during high kicks is a common problem which occurs, and it is crucial that you exercise sufficiently in advance to loosen and stretch the muscles surrounding the hip joints.
SUMO SQUATS
What is it? A key component of almost every work-out regime; squats and lunges have evolved to become sumo squats and sumo lunges – exercises which allow for heavier resistance loads versus their traditional respective exercise. Mr Gorav Datta advises: Squats and lunges are good exercises to develop the quads muscles. However, be cautious about going too deep into the squat; this puts extra stress on the front of the knee. Poor form with weights can also lead to back and knee injuries; a common issue I see in particular is patients with patellofemoral knee issues (knee-cap pain) with patients doing too many deep squats with heavy weights, and also hip impingement.

Designing Better Relationships - Ajit Patel Wemet

When it comes to a client and designer relationship there are various factors which must be remembered and incorporated so as to make for a healthy back and forth of ideas. This is important for the creative side of things as projects often evolve as time moves on and when the designer feels like they can contact the client when needed, it’s more likely that both parties will get what they want.
With the recession the way it is, many companies have downsized and left people who’ve never commissioned work to outside agencies running the show, so to speak. Those people aren’t going to be the best informed or most understanding when it comes to communicating with the designer, not out of any malice but simply because it’s a new kind of relationship which they may not be used to. As well as this, senior colleagues are likely to get involved on the client side, meaning things may get complex as their opinions are likely to be strong ones.
The most important thing in a designer/client relationship is being willing to bend to the ideas and inputs of other people. The designer needs to understand that his or her work could need to be altered at a moment’s notice and be prepared to do so. On the other hand, the client needs to understand some of the creative process and what’s involved in taking a project from conceptual to physical. Some give and take on both sides while keeping open avenues of communication will lead to a healthy relationship in which everyone feels heard!

Too Much on Your Plate? Then Delegate! - Ajit Patel Wemet

For some people delegation comes easily but for others giving up control of certain tasks can be difficult. Whether you manage a large team or just one or two people, there will be times when you’re just too busy to do everything yourself. This is when you need to delegate tasks to other people.
Why delegate? When you try to tackle an unrealistic workload on your own, it’s easy to feel frazzled and burnt out. But delegation isn’t just about reducing your own workload; sharing tasks with your team is a great way for others to learn new skills and feel valued in their role. It can provide fresh ideas and free you up to try new things too.
The fear of delegatingDelegating often takes a leap of faith. You need to put your trust in someone else and take a step back from certain tasks. For some, this can create a feeling of being out of control, particularly if you worry that other people won’t complete the job to your own high standards.
If you’re worried about delegating, here are some tips:
  • Don’t expect people to do things in exactly the same way you would. Everyone has their own methods.
  • Always provide a clear brief and let people know exactly what you need and when you need it.
  • Let your colleagues know you’re on hand if they need help with a new task but give them the space to get on with things by themselves.
